I don’t write Romance
February 22nd, 2011 by admin received Comments OffI’ve said on many occasions, I don’t write romance. And that’s true–however love is a constant theme in all of my writing. I think I realized the other day that no, I don’t write romance, I write beyond love, love stories.
The depth of the human soul is an amazing thing, it can inspire anything from cruelty to compassion. Whether we like it or not, humans have set the boundaries for the definition of “love”. In the City of Dragons world, Kin don’t love, they keep, they own, and they can belong, but love as we know it doesn’t exist for them.
Some might argue it goes deeper others might argue it isn’t the same.
No matter what it’s called, what I write about is that connection found in the soul (any soul). The one that supersedes the concept of feelings that can be labeled, and extends to the the parts of us that we might not even acknowledge.
It’s a type of connection that few of us will ever be lucky enough to experience. Count your blessings if you understand what I’m talking about…and to those who haven’t may you one day find it.
